Jungle Safari In The Land Of Rhinos (Kaziranga)

As a toddler I even have grown reading Jungle Book and watching Mowgli. the thought of visiting National Parks and Sanctuaries has always fascinated me. When it involves wildlife safaris in India, the adventure gets really big within the National Parks in India. The National Parks are home to a desirable diversity of flora and fauna. Recently I visited a park in Assam which is in North-East India. North-East India remains within the books of least explored places of India. But as they assert the unexplored places are always the simplest. One such kingdom of wilderness is that the Kaziranga park, which is found on the banks of the river Brahmaputra.

Kaziranga park
Kaziranga park is at a distance of 210 kms from Guwahati Airport and is 4 hours long drive. The sanctuary, which may be a World Heritage site is home to two-third of the world’s rhinoceros population. Assam’s Kaziranga park has many stories and mysteries behind the origin of its name. consistent with a legend,a girl named Ranga from a close-by village and a youth named Kazi, from the Karbi Anglong hills, fell crazy. This was unacceptable to their families and villagers and therefore the couple disappeared into the forest, never to be seen again, and therefore the forest was named after them. Kaziranga features a unique environment, it’s a huge expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical forest. Unlike most National Parks in India where Tiger is that the star of the forest, here in Kaziranga one – horned Rhino is that the star of the park. Kaziranga has 1400 wild Buffaloes. One horned-rhinoceros, Royal Bengal tiger , Asian Elephant, Wild water ox , and Indian Bison are collectively referred to as the large Five of the Kaziranga park .

Kaziranga is crisscrossed by four major rivers, including Brahmaputra and therefore the park also features a number of small water-bodies. per annum during annual monsoon a serious a part of the park gets submerged in water. Floods in Kaziranga are a bane also as a boon. It regenerates the wetlands and enriches the soil by depositing silt. But the drowning of highlands causes the price of animals to increases. On the other hand, Nature has its own mysterious ways of working. Despite the annual destructive floods, Kaziranga remains home to the most important population of one-horned rhinos. The park also has the very best density of tigers in India. The park has four regions: Eastern, Central, Western and much Western.

Things to try to in Kaziranga park:

1. Elephant Safari: Elephant safari happens daily from 5.30 to 7.30 within the morning. Best Range for Elephant safari is Bagori Range (Western Range). Animals within the Bagori Range are Rhinos, Bison and Wild Elephants.

2.Jeep Safari: Jeep Safari timings are 7.30 to 10.30 within the morning and 3-5 within the evening. the foremost beautiful range for Jeep Safari is that the Far Western Range or the Burapahar Range. This range is home to maximum number of deers, wild boars and sea-turtles.

3. Bird Sighting: Eastern Range (Agratoli) is that the best range for Bird Sighting. Agratoli may be a Bird’s Paradise. Almost 478 species of birds (both Migratory and resident) are spotted at the Park.
